If you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting Tanya Amis, you’ll immediately sense her warmth and leadership. As Metro’s Executive Vice President, Tanya embodies a balance of empathy and determination that has guided her journey through both triumphs and challenges at Metro Services. Her story is one of faith, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to doing what’s right.
Tanya’s connection to Metro began right before the world was reeling from a financial crisis. Tanya was working for another company when Metro’s now-owner approached her with a bold idea. He was starting a new business in Tennessee and wanted her to join him in helping run it. It was a leap of faith for Tanya and one that immediately tested her resolve.
“As soon as I made the jump, the economy went into a recession,” Tanya recalls. “It was devastating. You take a leap into a new adventure, but suddenly you’re staring at an uncertain future.”
With businesses across industries faltering, Tanya found herself at a crossroads. But instead of giving in to the doubt, she dug deep. Late nights turned into long weeks of brainstorming new ideas, stepping out of her comfort zone, and reaching out to industries that were still holding strong. Her tenacity became the foundation of Metro’s resilience. “Sixteen years later, I can say that not giving up and pushing forward with my goals paid off,” she says. “Never give up on your goals. Push forward and press on. The reward of doing so is an amazing feeling you’ll carry forever.”
Tanya’s journey is grounded in Metro’s core values of faith, integrity, and service. These aren’t just ideals she talks about; they’re principles she lives by every day. “We all face trials, in and out of work,” she shares. “But I always encourage others to do the right thing, even when it doesn’t benefit themselves or the company. I love helping and serving others, and I find joy in their happiness. Keeping those values at the forefront helps me stay steadfast in my daily job.”
Outside the office, Tanya’s adventurous spirit takes center stage. When she’s not leading the team at Metro, she’s likely riding her Harley, spending time with her horses, or enjoying moments with her family and friends. These passions keep her grounded, reminding her of the importance of balance and connection.
Tanya’s story is a powerful reminder that leadership is about more than just strategy and decision-making. It’s about the heart. Her kindness, faith, and grit help lead Team Metro and our partners to success every day.
